Best Car Body Kits

Car body kits are available for most makes of vehicles and give you an opportunity to make your car uniquely your own.
Ford Mustang body kits are a big favorite, but Honda Accord body kits, Porsche body kits, Dodge Neon body kits are all sold. Basically, there's a body kit for whatever you're driving including trucks, vans, imports, SUVs and even Hummers.

Never mind the common look that everyone else has, take the time to put your signature on your pride and joy. Whether you're a rebel or someone who likes style, you can outfit your vehicle to suit your tastes, not the manufacturer's. And while it's mainly about looks, you can also increase performance by improving the aerodynamics of the vehicle.

Research Before Buying

Before you buy, get informed about the product you want, know what kind of materials you are getting and shop around for price. Polyurethane, urethane and fiberglass are all used in the manufacturing of car body kits.

Fiberglass generally fits better and can be repaired if you damage it, but be wary of quality. Some fiberglass is brittle and cheap. If you live in an area that has snow or rough roads, go with urethane.

What's in a Body Kit?

What's involved in a body kit? It can include any of the following components: ground effects, spoilers, rear wings, fenders, side skirts, carbon fiber hoods, performance exhaust systems, custom wheels and tires, racing seats, hood scoops, lambo doors, Euro tail lights, cold air intakes, truck hoods, car hoods, lowering kits, protector headlights, shift knobs, LEDs, and mesh grilles.

As an example of what some of these products do, ground effects, like an air dam and side skirts, fit on the bottom edges of a vehicle. This alters the airflow and improves down force and makes the vehicle look lower to the ground. That gives you a sports car or racing car look that many like.

A kit may also include a wing or spoilers. A front spoiler can go under the front bumper to reduce drag. A rear spoiler creates down force to help increase traction during acceleration. Spoilers also give the car an edgy, exciting appearance many drivers find attractive.
