Spruce Up That Boring Old Dashboard!

One of the best automotive improvements anyone can make is replace their old dashboard with a newer more exiting model.
But how? It's relatively easy, actually. Just look for dash kits for your vehicle's make and model and you will add new life to the interior. Car dash covers have become quite popular as well and involve less installation time and monetary investment but they don't provide the same dramatic improvement to the car's interior.

What Exactly Is A Dash Kit?

Car manufacturers design their cars by attempting to balance quality and cost to produce a cost effective vehicle that will be popular with the consumers but return a profit to the company. For example, a luxury car in the US starts at $36,000. It doesn't make sense to put cheap plastic interiors in a car at that price point. Most probably it will have leather seats and a handsome wood grain dash.

But some consumers find themselves annoyed with the choices made by the manufacturers. They may like the car's exterior looks, the miles per gallon the engine returns or the "statement" the car brand makes. None of those things, however, guarantees the car's interior will generate the same level of emotion. That's the beauty of dashboard kits.

The designers of these products use factory specifications for given makes and models of vehicles to produce replacement dashboards that fit perfectly. The kit should include an instruction manual, the parts needed for adjusting the dashboard if necessary, and any special tools required for installation. In most cases the consumer can change out the dashboard easily and enjoy the whole process themselves.

Which Materials Are The Most Important Ones?

There are many reasons why a person would want to change a dashboard. The customer could simply be tired of the existing interior or wants a more sporty or expansive looking car. Whatever the reasons, designers make dashboard kits with consumers in mind. That's why there are determined materials for each niche market.

For example, brushed aluminum is considered an ideal material for a semi-futuristic, minimalist look. On the other hand, an exotic wood dash gives a totally different aura, projecting an image of elegance and distinction. Finally, there are dash kits made of carbon fiber and resins. Although they can give a new look to your car, they aren't as shiny as the other materials but they are cheaper.
